Health Ministry discharges 357 returnees from various quarantine centres, confirms 13 new COVID-19 cases

The Ministry of Health has confirmed 13 new COVID-19 cases taking the cumulative confirmed cases in Uganda to 1,128.

Of the 13 new confirmed cases, five are truck drivers, seven are contacts to previous confirmed cases while one is an alert from Kampala.

Regarding the five truck drivers, three arrived from Kenya via Malaba while the two arrived from Tanzania and DR Congo via Mukutukula and Goli points of entry respectively.

And out of the seven contacts, six are from Namisindwa District and one from Arua district. The ministry says they were all under quarantine at the time of testing.

Similarly the ministry has discharged another group of 357 returnees from various quarantine centres in Entebbe and Kampala, bringing the total number of returnees discharged in the last two weeks to 1182.

However, apart from those who are yet to complete the 14 day quarantine period, 41 returnees have since tested positive of COVID19 and are in isolation at Mulago National specialized Hospital.
