Minister Namuganza tells NRM elders to let youths fill their positions and remain in the backyard to advice

Political temperatures in the country are getting high but it looks really hotter in the ruling party National Resistance Movement (NRM) as various youths are vying to displace veteran party members.

While picking her nomination forms for the position of second National Vice Chairperson (female) of the NRM at the party headquarters on Kyadondo Road, State Minister for Lands, Persis Namuganza said it’s time for youth to take up positions in the party.

Namuganza who vows to challenge Speaker Rebecca Kadaga for the Central Executive Committee (CEC) position said elders must now remain in backyard to advice. Kadaga has held the position of the second NRM Vice-chairperson for over 10 years.

“We have patently waited for our time and this is the time. We the young people should have space within our party. They should not be moving away to join other groups like People Power. They should have space within their party,” Namuganza said.

She added, “The youth must fill these positions so that the elders can remain in the backyard to advice.”

Namuganza said her emphasis will be on strengthening grassroot mobilization for the ruling NRM party especially amongst the youths.
