Human rights activist Stella Nyanzi is seeking for financial support of Shs1.2 billion that will help keep her political campaigns alive.

Nyanzi says political campaigns have much expenditure, such as the cost of travel of candidates and staff, political consulting, and the direct costs of communicating with voters’ via media outlets.

“My budget for campaigning for Kampala Woman Member of Parliament elections is Shs1,258,700,000. Let’s talk about fundraising,” Nyanzi posted on her official social media platforms.

Various supporters have immediately come out to make different pledges from hard cash to making her posters.

After declaring her intentions to run, Nyanzi has already picked nominations forms from both her mother party Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) and People Power pressure group.

In FDC, it seems she’s the only one who picked forms for the position. However, in People Power she will have to faceoff with youthful People Power lawyer Shamim Malende.

Nevertheless Nyanzi is ready to challenge anyone as she said; “I am not scared of anyone who will stand against me, whether you are from the National Resistance Movement (NRM) party or any other party as long as we are fighting for the people of Uganda.”
