Former opposition popular figure, currently Minister of Lands, Housing and Urban Development, Beti Kamya has told the opposition that whatever election the Electoral Commission organises, opposition cannot win a presidential election.
Kamya says the internal wrangles in the opposition have and will continue keeping them behind in the presidential race.
“I joined the NRM because of their organization. The opposition is not organized to win an election. I left them because I started thinking differently. This is a democracy where people are allowed to make a choice,” Kamya said.
Kamya said individuals vowing to take up political offices in the forthcoming election should cease from complaining about the revised road map and instead concentrate on gaining ground in their respective constituencies.
“Given the roadmap, campaigns should begin now. What is being proposed is to take advantage of the technology that is improving with online services and communication.
That is where the world is going anyway. I do not think rallies are the only thing that make an election free and fair. Even when you are doing rallies, those with money hold bigger and better rallies,” Kamya said.
She further claimed that rallies reach fewer people than the media.
“If you save the money on rallies and use it for media, you will reach more people through TV and radio,” she said.
