Two arrested for encroaching on Museveni’s land; they had already acquired five land titles

The problem of land grabbing in Uganda continues to persist even though the President has instituted land commissions to try and find a lasting solution. This time, it is the President’s land that has been encroached on.

Yesterday, the Col Edith Nakalema-led State House Anti-Corruption Unit released a statement where two men namely; Peter Segane and Jimmy Sunna had encroached on Museveni’s land that is located in Katwekambwa in Kabulasoke Sub-county, Gomba district.

The statement says that the two men had already “fraudulently acquired five land titles on land already registered in the name of Yoweri Kaguta Museveni.”

“We identified a number of lapses in the processing of the titles at the levels of Area Land Committee, District Land Board, and Ministry of Lands,” the statement further says.

Working with Police, the two men have been arrested and their case file has been forwarded to the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) for prosecution.

The statement has drawn reaction from Ugandans on social media asking questions like if someone can successfully get a land title on the President’s land, what about the common man?
