EC’s decision to organize a scientific election is impotent – aspiring Lord Mayor Jose Chameleone

Jose Chameleone is aspiring for Lord Mayorship in 2021 general elections.

Aspiring Kampala Lord Mayor and singer Jose Chameleone real name Joseph Mayanja has also added his voice to those faulting Electoral Commission’s decision to organize a scientific election.

According to Chameleone, digital campaigns will not work as they openly look like a total mockery of the general elections.

“I am surprised that the Electoral Commission can make such impotent proposals towards elections – the most important public event in the country,” Chameleone said.

Chameleone said elections should be organized in a very transparent, free and fair manner because once mismanaged, they can lead to more deaths than COVID-19.

“The issue of COVID-19 can’t be compared to our election. It is a pandemic that is curable, and soon, it will be history. Election outcomes led to the death of thousands of people in Luwero, up to now Luwero has not recovered. So the cost of a vote, badly managed could be too huge for us,” he said.

He added, “Do you think we can hold an election without risks? Do you think COVID-19 is riskier than a bad election? There will always be a trade-off of risks. Some risks are heavier than others.”

Chameloene believes the majority of Ugandans are going to defy the proposed election because it openly looks biased. He proposed that the EC should have a dialogue with all different parties and have a workable balance before it is too late.
