Uganda confirms 19 new COVID-19 cases, total recoveries rise to 351

The Ministry of Health has confirmed 19 new COVID-19 cases bringing the total confirmed COVID-19 cases to 724. The results are from the 2,212 samples tested on June 15.

Six of the new cases are truck drivers from Elegu and Malaba while 13 are among contacts and alerts from areas of Gulu, Jinja, Wakiso, Tororo, Amuru and Kyotera.

Additionally, 25 foreign truck drivers (13 Kenyans, nine Tanzanians, two Burundians and one Congolese) who tested positive for COVID-19 were returned to their respective countries for treatment.

The total recoveries in Uganda have risen to 351 after Entebbe Grade B Hospital discharged  47 people who recovered from COVID-19, making it the highest number of people to be discharged in a single day from one facility ever since Uganda recorded its first case on March 21.

The Ministry of health says the country has not yet registered any COVID-19-related death.
