President Yoweri Museveni has declared war against corrupt government officials who prefer taking bribes and frustrating local innovations.

During his Heroes Day address at State House Entebbe, Museveni said several local innovations have been blocked as a result of government officials only thinking about themselves.

Firstly, he cited an example of officials who deliberately procure items from foreign firms instead of procuring locally where more local jobs would be created.

Similarly he said scientists have too been held ransom by the corrupt officials who he referred to as parasites.

“Our children have made medicine for malaria but they were being tossed around by parasites. I am tired of these parasites, they must go to hell,” Museveni said.

Museveni also faulted Police for failing to do its job. He said Police is also a problem of Uganda.

“A thief should not get out of jail because of bail, if it needs legislation to change that law, bring it up,” he said.
