In 2016, the government of Uganda through the Ministry of Information, Technology and Communication (ICT) and National Guidance introduced the MyUG free WiFi for Ugandans around Kampala and Entebbe to surf the internet from 5 pm to 6 am from Monday to Friday, and the whole of the weekend.

MyUG is currently available to the general public at 284 locations in the Central Business District of Kampala and Entebbe, and the Ministry of ICT says that over 2 million people use the free WiFi from the government each month.

It is about to get better, and the number of users is about to get bigger, according to the Minister of ICT and National Guidance Judith Nabakooba.
