MP Lutamaguzi asks Parliament to provide him with Shs500m to feed his Nakaseke people, “The Shs20m was not enough”

Nakaseke MP Paulson Lutamaguzi.

Outspoken Nakaseke South lawmaker Hon Lutamaguzi Ssemakula has begged fellow Members of Parliament who want to return the controversial Shs20 million that was given to each MP as facilitation to fight COVD-19 in their respective constituencies to give it to him.

Speaking during NBS TV’s Eagle show, Lutamaguzi said he is overwhelmed by the food demand in his constituency as many of his residents are sleeping hungry. He revealed that excluding the Shs20m from Parliament, he claimed that he has so far spent over Shs150 million procuring food and other essential items for his people during lockdown.

Lutamaguzi asked the Speaker of Parliament Rebecca Kadaga if she can, to provide him with Shs500 million to help address the issue of hunger.

“The Shs20m was not enough. I need to feed my people,” Lutamaguzi said.

When President Museveni first announced the 14-days lockdown, Lutamaguzi donated over 200 bunches of Matooke to Nakaseke residents. He further asked Parliament to deduct Shs2 million monthly from his salary until Uganda wins the battle against COVID-19 pandemic.
