Staying home during lockdown has reportedly increased house parties especially amongst celebrities. Such a worrying developing culture has prompted to issue warning against the act.

Fred Enanga, the Police Spokesperson said holding house parties violate the lockdown rules. Enanga said police has received complaints from neighbours of various local celebrities.

“We got intelligence of some celebrities who were hosting house parties within their homes. Our intelligence is following up on them and very soon, we shall have them arrested and charged,” Enanga said while addressing the daily security briefing at Uganda Media Center in Kampala.

Enanga revealed that their strictness in implementing COVID-19 directives is for the good of the country as nations that have hurried to ease the restrictions are facing it rough.

“Ghana tried to ease the restrictions on Coronavirus two days back only to record 271 new cases and one death in 24 hours. Coronavirus is very unpredictable,” he said.

He added, “We would like to thank all Ugandans and visitors who continue to adhere to the directives from the president and ministry of health during the lockdown by staying home.”
