MP James Waluswaka: If the Shs20m is not enough, we shall ask for a supplementary

Bunyole West Legislator James Waluswaka has shed more light on why Members of Parliament deserved the controversial Shs20 million to aid in the fight against COVID-19 in their respective constituencies.

Waluswaka said they (MPs) are working under abnormal situations where they have to feed thousands of their constituents. He stated that their being government.

“That is why the Prime Minister asked MPs to offer their ambulances to the national task force. The UGX 20 million is for COVID19 related activities,” Waluswaka said.

On whether the Shs20 million will be enough for MPs, Waluswaka said the money is very little but if one plans for it well, it can do something.

“If this is not enough, we shall ask for a supplementary. Those of us in government are cooking up something,” he said.

On Friday last week, Waluswaka made a statement on the floor of Parliament demanding for an explanation from Bobi Wine, on why he branded the Shs20 million given to each MP as a bribe. This prompted Speaker Rebecca Kadaga to order Bobi Wine to appear before the Rules Committee for allegedly putting the institution of Parliament into disrepute.
