Tanzania confirms 84 new COVID-19 cases today, taking the country’s total to 254

As the number of coronavirus (COVID-19) recoveries increase in Uganda, the number of infections for ours neighbours Tanzania keeps increasing. Today, the Ministry of Health in Tanzania Ummy Ally Mwalimu has announced that the country has confirmed 84 new COVID-19 cases.

Of these, 16 cases are from Zanzibar, and the rest from mainland Tanzania. This is the highest number of new COVID-19 cases to be confirmed in Tanzania in 24 hours. Mwalimu has also said that three patients have died of the disease today in the capital Dar es Salam.

This comes only two days after President John Magufuli declared three days of national prayer to ask for God’s intervention protection and protection from the deadly virus.

It should be noted that up to until today, the Magufuli has not yet ordered the country to go into lockdown, a direction other East African countries have taken, as well as many others around the world in an effort to curb the spread of the virus.
