Currently, millions of Ugandans are spending most of their time at home with their families due to the suspension of unnecessary movements, public and private transport, closure of schools, all institutions of learning and all forms of social life by the President.
Whereas some were trapped in the city by the ban that came without forewarning, other Ugandans had vacated the city and gone to their villages to hide from the deadly virus.
The Minister of agriculture, Animal Industry and Fisheries Vincent Bamulangaki Ssempijja has urged all Ugandans that have land for agriculture to use this “quarantine time” to grow food crops, as there is going to be a high demand for food all over the world since most people are currently in lockdown.
The Minister said this during a tour of one of his agricultural projects in Lukaya, Masaka, where he said that government is willing to support farmers by providing them with incentives like fertilisers and pesticides to boost their productivity.
Last week on Saturday, President Museveni said in an address to the country about COVID-19 that although the pandemic has affected some sectors of the economy, others like agriculture will continue blossoming because people will always need food no matter what.
