Food distribution starts on Saturday, 1.5 million people in Wakiso, Kampala to receive maize flour, beans from government

Over the weekend, President Museveni announced plans of distributing food relieve to people who are affected by his lockdown of the country that is intended to stop the spreading of coronavirus.

Currently, millions of people around the country are out of work, money and food, and it is this group that the government is targeting to give food relief, set to start this Saturday April 4, 2020.

The mode of distribution is as follows:

Food will be distributed at L.C. 1 level by the L.C. Chairpersons supported by Police and UPDF for purposes of transparency, and avoiding crowds. Security will stay at the distribution point from the beginning up to the end of the exercise.

According to the Office of the Prime Minister, every person will get six kilograms of maize flour, three kilograms of beans, and salt.

Breastfeeding mothers and sick people will receive two kilograms of powdered milk and two kilograms of sugar each.
