Following a directive by the Health Ministry urging Ugandans to maintain a social distance of four metres even in public transport means like taxis and buses, Traffic police has today kicked off an operation of impounding taxis found carrying more than two passengers per seat.

Traffic officers have been deployed on several roads in Kampala and they are on alert that each taxi carries a total of eight passengers instead of the usual 14 passengers.

Uganda is currently on alert as yesterday the Ministry confirmed eight more coronavirus cases. The public is in panic as many suspect that very soon the cases will rise as many individuals seem not to be taking the set directives serious.
