Police arrest two people in Katwe for making fake sanitizers, found with over 15 20-litre jerry cans

The Coronavirus pandemic spread all over the world has increased the demand for hand sanitizer and most people are now taking advantage of the situation to flood the market with fake sanitizers.

Police have today arrested two people in Katwe for making fake sanitizers. The two suspects were found with over 15 20-litre jerry cans of ‘sanitizers.’

Police say the suspects had not yet supplied the ‘sanitizers’ to the market as they were found in the process of packing them.

Permanent Secretary to the Ministry of Health, Dr Diana Atwine on Tuesday said that most hand sanitizers being sold on the Ugandan market are fake. She revealed that genuine hand sanitizers should have 60% alcohol.

As Uganda is yet to confirm any case of the COVID19 disease, world over, 200,179 cases of coronavirus have been confirmed in 163 countries. 7,958 deaths have been confirmed while 82,492 individuals have recovered.
