Kenya confirms first Coronavirus case, suspend all public gatherings

Kenya has confirmed the first case of Coronavirus on her soil. Announcing the development, Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe said the patient who is a student tested positive yesterday and had travelled from Ohio, USA, via London to Nairobi.

Kagwe said the patient has been isolated at Kenyatta National Hospital’s Infectious Disease Unit despite being in stable condition. He said she will not be released from hospital until she cures from the dangerous disease.

As a result, Kenya has suspended all travel outside the country unless necessary. It has also put ban on all kinds of public gathering. Public transport has also been ordered to provide sanitisers for all their passengers.
