Health Ministry restricts travel to 17 countries that may expose Uganda to high risk of Coronavirus; USA, UK, China, France, Italy among them

Minister of Health Dr Jane Ruth Aceng.

Ministry of Health has restricted Ugandans from traveling to countries that have registered high cases of Coronavirus. Health Minister Dr Jane Ruth Aceng made the revelations while meeting hoteliers, tour operators, and other members of the tourism industry at Sheraton Hotel, Kampala.

Among the countries listed are; Austria, Belgium, Netherlands, Malaysia, Norway, San Marino, Sweden, USA, United Kingdom, Malaysia. Others are China, France, Germany, Italy, Iran, South Korea, and Spain.

According to Aceng, the above countries expose Uganda to high risk and threat of attracting COVID-19.

Dr Ruth Aceng, however, said travellers from the restricted countries who want to enter Uganda will have to self-quarantine at their own expense. She indicated that defiant travellers will be asked to leave the country.

The Minister once again encouraged Ugandans to follow the set preventive measures. She urged the public to avoid handshakes and to regularly clean their hands with an alcohol-based hand rub or wash them with soap and water as this helps kill viruses.
