The four isolated foreign nationals test negative for Coronavirus – Health Ministry

Minister of Health Dr Jane Ruth Aceng.

Ministry of Health has given an update on the four foreign nationals who were intercepted at Entebbe International Airport and subsequently isolated at Entebbe Referral Hospital.

Results from the Uganda Virus Research Institute indicate that none of the foreign nationals (one French, three Chinese) had coronavirus according to the Health Ministry.

“All four foreign nationals currently under isolation have tested negative for coronavirus,” says the Health Ministry in a statement.

The said foreign nationals were picked up from Entebbe International Airport by the health surveillance teams after presenting with flu and cough symptoms.

It remains now that Uganda has no confirmed case of coronavirus. Only Egypt, Algeria, and Nigeria have confirmed cases of coronavirus in Africa, but the Egyptian case reportedly recovered.

The Ministry continues to urge the public to remain very vigilant and follow the preventive measures they provided recently.

In Europe, reports indicate that Russia and United Kingdom are the new countries to register cases of the high spreading virus, in addition to Italy and the Far East countries.
