I am still around for very many years, I have a mission to accomplish – Gen Elwelu speaks about his alleged ‘madness’

UPDF Commander of Land Forces Lt. Gen. Peter Elwelu.

Commander of Land Forces in the Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) Lt. Gen. Peter Elwelu’s was reported to be in a terrible health state, and that he had run mad. However, the general has rubbished the claims.

In a video recorded from his office at Bombo barracks, Gen Elwelu says he is healthy, happy, and only minding about his work as an officer. He reveals that the circulating false report is a masterpiece plan by his enemies who envy his hard work in the UPDF.

“Those who wish me bad I wish them well. It is because they don’t know what they are doing. I have no problem with anybody,” says Elwelu

He adds, “There are some people who want to do evil things in this country and see me as a big problem. They have tried a lot of things to get rid of me but have not succeeded. I am here for a mission. If anybody is planning to do bad, let them know I am still around.”

Elwelu also blames people who misuse social media for spreading false information. Nevertheless, he says with God, he will accomplish his earthly missions.

“I am still around for very many years. I am not about to go, I have a mission to accomplish before I go to my Father,” he says.

The UPDF through Spokesperson Brig. Richard Karemire had earlier dismissed all reports of Gen Elwelu’s ‘madness.’
