Yesterday, a Ugandan news website published a story that alleged that the Commander of Land Forces in the Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) Lt. Gen. Peter Elwelu’s health is in dire state, and that he had run mad.

The website alleged that a relative to Elwelu told them that he was speaking uncoordinated things, singing, and shouting alone in office which prompted authorities to take him to a hospital in Bombo.

Today, the UPDF has come out to refute all claims, and has urged the general public to disregard all such claims about the general’s health.

“We wish to dismiss the rumour circulated by The Capital Times regarding the health of Lt Gen Peter Elwelu, the UPDF Commander of Land Forces. There is absolutely no iota of truth in the mentioned article. The contents should therefore be ignored and not cause any anxiety,” UPDF Spokesperson Brig Richard Karemire tweeted.

Lt Gen Peter Elwelu is remembered for commanding the forces during the Kasese riots that led to hundreds of people losing their lives, as well as arresting over 200 including their King, Wesley Charles Mumbere.

Recently, the same general sad that people who complain and cry regularly about poverty should be arrested.
