New Year New Admin! Ruth Sebatindira appointed new UTL Administrator

Ruth Sebatindira UTL Administrator

Last year was a rough year for Uganda Telecom Limited (UTL) as the telecom company’s then administrator Twebaze Bemanya went back and forth with Minister of Investment and Privatisation Evelyn Anite, the latter citing incompetence of the former.

Thankfully for Anite, Bemanya’s contract expired last year in November and the President declined the proposal by Gen Kahinda Otafiire to renew it.

Today, the High Court has announced Bemanya’s successor, and it is none other than Uganda Law Society former President Ruth Sebatindira.

This is a result of an application filed by Uganda Contribution Employees Contributory Pension Scheme (UCECPS) on December 17, 2019, through their lawyers Kwesigabo, Bamwine and Walubiri Advocates that sought for the replacement of Bemanya with a competent administrator.

UCECPS blamed Bemanya of failing to execute the duties assigned to him as administrator of the company, one of which was to make sure all creditors to the company are sorted out.

High Court Judge Justice Lydia Mugambe said in her ruling that Sebatindira is a qualified and registered Insolvency Practitioner with the required experience to steer UTL into the right direction.

Ruth Sebatindira is a Law graduate from Makerere University and completed her Diploma in legal practice at Law Development Center (LDC) in 1996. She also possesses a Masters Degree in Laws from The University of Manchester, UK.
