Yesterday saw Uganda Police and immigration getting so petty and deported South African music icon Yvonne Chaka Chaka.

Chaka Chaka had jetted into the country earlier in the day ahead of her planned performance in Enkuuka, the Buganda Kingdom-organised end of year festival in Lubiri, Mengo.

In a statement read out by Police Spokesperson Fred Enanga, he said that Immigration had decided to deport Chaka Chaka because she had entered the country on a visitors’ visa yet she was poised to carry out business activities that is singing on a concert and be remunerated.

The move drew in a lot of criticism from the general public mostly those in the opposition, as they believe that the ‘Princess of Africa’ was deported because of her close ties with Presidential hopeful Bobi Wine. Bobi Wine condemned the move.

It is not over though. Chaka Chaka has vowed to come back to Uganda and perform for her fans.

“I can assure you I will come back to Uganda and perform. This is my motherland,” Chaka Chaka tweeted.

Yvonne Chaka is the beautiful voice behind some of Africa’s greatest classics like Let me be free, I’m burning up, and Thank you Mr DJ among others.
