Police has this morning intercepted a Ugandan Journalists Association (UJA) march to the Police headquarters in Naguru where they were set to present their petition against brutality to Inspector General of Police (IGP) Martin Okoth Ochola.

Police intercepted the match at Wandegeya as it fired teargas and bullets. Several journalists were arrested including the UJA President, Bashir Kazibwe.

Last week, several journalists were victims of Police brutality as they covered the unrests at Makerere University. The association came up with a statement condemning Police’s iron hand that fails them to serve their mandated purpose of providing citizens with the information they need to make the best possible decisions about their lives, communities, societies, and governments.
