The Minister of Information and Communications Technology Idah Nantaba continues to live dangerously and fearing for her life ever since his body guards shot and killed one Ronald Ssebulime in March, who they suspected of trailing her with the motive of killing her.
Nantaba claims that her life is in danger because a highly placed Army General whose name she can’t disclose for reasons of her own security is conspiring with a one Moses Karangwa, her political rival from Kayunga district.
Nantaba says all this bad blood started during her time as a Lands Minister where she stepped her feet in the plans of Karangwa and the unnamed General to grab land in Kayunga that housed over 1000 families.
Nantaba says that the public should not be hoodwinked into believing that Karangwa is her political rival. She says that Karangwa was fronted by his counterparts as a disguise for what their true colours are, and that is land grabbing.
“These land grabbers upon realizing that I was preparing to unseat the NRM chairperson for Kayunga district, they also asked Karangwa to contest for the same position so as to disguise the land grabbing fight for a political one. Almost everyone believes that the war between me and Karangwa is a political one. That is how mafias fight,” Nantaba says.
According to Nantaba, when Karangwa and the group realised that she was foiling their land grabbing plans, they resolved to intimidating her, replacing her bodyguards with the ones they had influence over and spying on her movements.
Nantaba alleges that one day, some Special Forces Command (SFC) officers; one called Charity and the other Akampulira invaded her home with soldiers and guns. One plain-clothed soldier told her neighbour that she (Nantaba) was also going to die like former Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIGP) Andrew Felix Kaweesi.
Amidst all this, Nantaba is ever so grateful to President Museveni to whom she reported all these threats and has beefed up her security.
