Government has fulfilled President Yoweri Museveni’s pledge to golden boy Joshua Cheptegei by rewarding him with a brand new double cabin Mitsubishi pick up.
Museveni pledged a car to Cheptegei following his outstanding performance at the 2018 Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast, Australia.
At the event, Cheptegei credibly won two gold medals after emerging winner of the 10,000 and 5,000 meters races.
The vehicle registration number UBF 608S was handed over by State House Sports Officer Ms Norah Nassimbwa at State House Nakasero.
“The car will help me enhance my training performance as it comes just 10 months to the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games. I intend to win another glory for the country,” Cheptegei said.
Cheptegei has been on the top again this year emerging winner in three international events. He won world cross-country title in Aarhus, Denmark; Diamond League 500m title in Zurich, Switzerland; and he most recently won gold in the 10,000m IAAF World Championships after crossing the finishing line at a world-leading 26:48.36.
He is currently in preparations for the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games.
