This weekend the only plot that is on everyone’s radar is the biggest social event of the year, the Royal Ascot Goat Races.
The event that has been marked as one of Uganda’s most popular social events is on for Saturday, October 12 at the Speke Resort Munyonyo. Fans of the races have already shown anticipation for the goats they will either cheer or bet on.
Despite the fact that the event boasts of a rich tradition as the most exuberant unofficial fashion showcase in Uganda, including social networking, one of the details that make this event very special is the fact that the Ruparelia Foundation also uses the opportunity to undertake charity work.
Currently, their project on Eco Brick CSR to build toilets at the Good Samaritan High School in Kamwokya is underway. Proceeds being collected for every race, coupled with the ticket sales with some including access to VIP exclusive and top-notch tents such as Johnnie Walker, Tusker Malt, Gold Star Insurance and Speke Apartments will be given back to the school to improve on their sanitation and health.
The event boasts of glamorous fashion, glitz and glam galore and it is without a doubt that Kampala’s fun seekers will certainly oblige them once again.
With tickets going for only shs50,000, the Goat Races promises to recreate one of the most eagerly awaited weekends of merrymaking and extravagant fashion, which have been the hallmarks of the Goat Races for years. Access to the hospitality tents cost only shs400,000. Let’s Goat It On!
