BREAKING: Former IGP John Kisembo is dead, the police has announced

The former Inspector General of Police, John Kisembo has passed on. Kisembo died in a Platinum Hospital where he has been undergoing treatment. The police Chief Political commissioner, Asan Kasingye broke the news on his social media platform.

Kisembo was appointed IGP on January 3, 1999 and retired on April 11, 2001. He was replaced by Gen. Katumba Wamala. The deceased has been working as the acting director from United Nations Institute for the prevention of crimes and treatment of offenders until his death.

Kisembo joined Police in 1980. In a statement issued today, Police has paid tribute to the deceased as one who led with excellence.
