Uganda Cranes and Vipers Sports Club midfield maestro Moses Waiswa has completed a move to South African-based club Supersport United FC.
Waiswa who has been at the Kitende-based club for one and half years will now be trading his football career in South Africa for the next three years.
Sources indicate that the passing magician will be pocketing R70,000 (Shs18 million) per month in his first year at the club and in the remaining two years he will earn R77500 (Shs20 million) and R85,000 (Shs22 million) respectively.
Supersport plays in South Africa’s ABSA Premier Soccer League which they have won on three occasions.
“Waiswa made it clear to the club that he saw the move as an opportunity to further his career and he wanted to pursue the move. Under these circumstances, and considering that Waiswa’s contract was coming to an end in January 2020 where he would transfer for free, the club respected that decision and reluctantly allowed him to move on for a significant fee and sell-on,” Vipers said in a statement.
In his long message to his fans and the club, Waiswa said, “I would like to say a heartfelt thank you to everyone connected to Vipers Sports Club; from the owner; Dr. Lawrence Mulindwa, to the Head Coach, the backroom staff, and of course to the supporters who have been amazing to me throughout my time at the club.”
“Having joined the club as a midfielder, the club has helped me to develop and progress immensely both as a footballer and as a person. I will always be grateful to everyone at the club for what they have allowed me to achieve,” he added.
While at Vipers, Waiswa was part of the winning squad that claimed the 2017/18 Uganda Premier League title. His magnificent efforts were rewarded by being voted the FUFA Player of the year.
He joins two Ugandan footballers who are already playing in the PSL; Denis Onyango ( Mamelodi Sundows) and Allan ‘Dancing Rasta’ Kateregga (Cape Town City).
