Uganda Cranes and Mamelodi Sundowns Football Club shot stopper Denis Onyango has again left fans guessing on whether he is ready to call it quits on the national team.
“That’s a big decision I need to take,” Onyango said before revealing that he is incapable of taking the decision alone. He has to involve various parties like family and team officials among others.
Onyango said if it was only him to decide, he would definitely hang his boots.
“My heart is telling me to retire from the Uganda Cranes but the pressure from the public tells me to continue,” Onyango said.
The goalie who is married to his high school sweetheart and together they have four children further disclosed that his retirement will allow him more time to engage with family.
Last year in December Uganda Cranes game with Cape Verde at Namboole Stadium, he opened up that the AFCON campaign could be his last one in the national team jersey. Onyango has been playing for the Cranes since 2005 and has made over 70 caps.
