He has so far refused to say what has inspired him into the industry, whether he hopes to emulate his son and also become a star, or if he was pushed by someone. A section of social media users have even speculated that the alleged neglect by his superstar son could have left him with no choice, but to try his luck in the extremely competitive industry and prove to the son that he too can do it.
What is not a matter of guessing, however, is the fact that Mzee Abdul Juma, the father to Tanzanian Bongo crooner Diamond Platnumz, has ventured into music. Going by all or whatever you prefer of three stage names; Baba Diamond, Big Lion or Mzee Mondi.
For his entry into the industry Mr Juma has collaborated with upcoming Tanzanian artistes Sungura Madini, Promis Nyota and Blod Gaz in a new song titled “Umeniteka”.
The new song was released yesterday, Tuesday, April 2.
News about Mr Juma’s plunge into music has attracted mixed reactions online, with those approving of his newly found activity saying so long as it would financially benefit the old man, they would support him.
Diamond’s father was recently in the news over ill health as he battles skin cancer.
