While addressing guests at the official opening of the Parliamentary Week on Monday morning, the Speaker of Parliament, Rebecca Kadaga has lashed out at government officials who claimed that fighting corruption will portray the weaknesses in the National Resistance Movement (NRM).
“Unfortunately there are people in this country who think that if you belong to a certain party especially the ruling party, you should not talk about corruption. Urging that we (those who talk about corruption) be spoiling the name of the party or government,” furious Kagada stated.
According to Kadaga, leaders have a common agenda to fight corruption and practices that hurt the common people vowing not to bow to any threats.
Kadaga’s comments come at a time when the Parliamentary Committee on Commissions, Statutory Authorities and State Enterprises (COSASE) is still grilling Bank of Uganda officials over the sell of seven commercial banks.
