Thief masquerading as traffic officer arrests boda-boda cyclist near Shoprite, takes off with his bike

Nakasero Police Station is holding a one Peter Kibirige, 37, a resident of Kawempe Tuula on charges of theft of a motorcycle.  It is alleged that Kibirige impersonated himself as an enforcement officer and stopped an unsuspecting motorcycle rider on Saturday, December 14 near Shoprite.

Police stated that Kibirige seized the victim’s motorcycle on fake traffic charges before disappearing with the victim’s motorcycle registration number UEZ 837G.

“The complainant opened up a case at Nakasero Police Station and we used the CCTV footage to identify and track the suspect,” Police said.

Yesterday the motorcycle was impounded along Nsambya-Kabalagala road and the rider arrested. Police said that he will be charged with theft of a motorcycle before the courts of law.
