President Museveni’s recurrent visits to the ghetto have caused spats amongst the public; however veteran academic and political analyst, Dr Anas A. Kaliisa says it is a good gesture from Museveni to get back to the ground.

“For long, Museveni had neglected engaging with people from the ghetto. But due to the recent intense political events awakened by Bobi Wine in the ghetto, it is good that Museveni accepted to take up the challenge,” Kaliisa said.

With Museveni allowing going to the ghetto, Kaliisa claimed that Bobi Wine is bound to lose his ‘ghetto presidency.’ Kaliisa said people in the ghetto can easily be comprised when given funds and Museveni is willing to do so.

“Bobi Wine will soon be chased from the ghetto and Museveni will take over. Although Bobi Wine awakened the ghetto, he offers no solution to their problems. Museveni is going to fully fund them,” he said.

Museveni recently attained the label of ‘Man of Ghetto’ as he launched the NRM empowerment office for youths living and working in the areas of Kibuye and Katwe. The office, according to the President, will make it easy for government to support the youth in their different productive groups.
