High Court in Entebbe is today expected to deliver its sentence to Godfrey ‘Troy’ Wamala, the man who was convicted of killing singer Moses Ssekibogo, also known as Mowzey Radio.

On Monday this week, Justice Jane Abodo acquitted Troy of murder but found him guilty of manslaughter. Justice Abodo said that Troy directly linked himself to the scene of crime when he admitted that he was present when the incident happened, although he had earlier denied ever touching the musician on the fateful night of January 22.

“I find the accused, who placed himself at the scene of the crime was properly identified by the first prosecution witness as being the one who assaulted the deceased. I find this ingredient was proved beyond reasonable doubt,” the judge said.

“I find that prosecution has proved all essential ingredients of the offence of manslaughter contrary to section 187 and 190 of the Penal Code Act beyond reasonable doubt and I hereby find Godfrey Wamala guilty of the offence of manslaughter,” the judge ruled.

According to Uganda’s Penal Code, manslaughter carries a maximum of life in prison.
