Uganda Airline suffers an hour-long delay on its inaugural flight

Uganda Airlines has today made it up to the skies for its inaugural flight from Entebbe International Airport to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport Nairobi.

However, the flight suffered an hour-long delay. The plane that was supposed to set off at 11:10 instead jetted off at 12:12 pm. The delay was because Uganda Airline’s flight  was a ceremonial flight, it had to first wait for commercial flights that were already on the runway to take off.

The inaugural flight had over 30 government officials, journalists and popular personalities like Moses Golola on board.

The Prime Minister, Ruhakana Rugunda represented the President as Chief Guest at the launch of Uganda Airlines Inaugural flight. He said the new implementation is a huge boost to the East African development.

“Fellow Ugandans, our proud national carrier presents opportunities across all sectors. As you have been told, the airline will first fly to 7 destinations starting with Nairobi, Juba, Mogadishu and Dar es Salaam. Therefore, its success will lead to the development of Uganda,” Rugunda said.

He added, “All our neighbours Kenya, Tanzania, Burundi, South Sudan, among other nations will easily access the market and easily connect to their destinations. There has never been a better time to commence commercial flights than now.”
