If we organised popularity awards today, State Minister for Investment and Privatisation Evelyn Anite would win in every category hands down.

The week started with the Minister holding a press conference where she claimed that there is a plan being hatched by Mafias to end her life, because of her involvement in the ongoing Uganda Telecom Limited (UTL) saga.

During a Question and Answer session in Parliament yesterday, a session in which Prime Minister Ruhakana Rugunda responds to questions from members of parliament, Kasilo County MP Elijah Okupa asked the Prime Minister whether he does not preside over a mafia govt following reports of murder attempts on Anite.

Rugunda said that although he has heard about the reports of mafias in the media, they (government) do not know of any mafias in government.

Rugunda’s rejection of Anite’s claims comes only a day after Speaker of the house Rebecca Kadaga on Wednesday August 21 called the mafia allegations by Anite hearsay, and invited her to her office to make a formal report.
