Last night, Uganda National Cultural Center popularly known as National Theatre was filled to capacity as Kyooto Productions premiered four short films.
The four films were written by the very talented Josephine Kabahuma and three of them directed by Kizito Samuel ‘Saviour’ in the period between March and June this year. The movies tapped into the rich Ugandan talent casting only Ugandans in an effort to showcase their acting skills to the world.
The films, shot on locations in Makerere University, Banda and other places in Uganda tackle real life topics like drug addiction in young adults, dementia, relationship drama, and campus life.
The premier was a Red Carpet event, as the cast and other movie-goers posed for photos on the Red Carpet to later slay on Instagram. Our reporter attended the event and we have put in here photos of what ensued on the Red Carpet.
The production was good, the content even better, and we can only say that Ugandan film industry is steadily growing and there is a lot of potential in these young people’s craft.
Some of these short films have already received international recognition, with ‘Esteem’, ‘Equanimity’, and ‘Demented’ already nominated in Lift-Off Film Festivals in Europe.
Mpaka Records handled the music in the movies, and 2094 Studios was involved in co-production.
