Each KCCA FC player to receive $1000 from FUFA for winning the CECAFA Kagame Cup

Uganda Premier League champions Kampala City Council Authority Football Club (KCCA FC) emerged winners of the CECAFA Kagame Cup yesterday in Kigali, Rwanda after 41 years of waiting.

KCCA defeated defending champions Azam FC from Tanzania 1 – 0 thanks to Mustafa Kizza’s second half goal. The Kasasiro boys had last won the CECAFA title in 1978.

Besides the Shs110m tournament prize money, the local football governing body Federation of Uganda Football Association (FUFA) president Eng. Moses Magogo promised to offer $1000 (about Shs3.7m) to each KCCA FC player and the entire staff that took part in the regional showpiece.

KCCA is the first Ugandan club to win the tournament since 2006 when Police Football Club won it under Sam Timbe. Sports Club Villa is other Ugandan club that has won the title before and it has brought it home on three occasions.
