Kabuleta expected to be brought to court today, Police says it was offended on behalf of President Museveni

As controversial city pastor Joseph Kabuleta is expected to appear before the courts of law today, police spokesperson Fred Enanga has revealed that even though the charges that led to Kabuleta’s arrest are against violation of the person of the President, President Yoweri Museveni is not the direct complainant in this case.

Enanga said that police is an institution of the state that can itself complain on matters that violate the person of the president.

“We take all complaints against the person of the president as a grave matter. We don’t need the president to come and make a complaint for police to act. For as long as we detect it, we move in. This was offensive for the person of the president,” Enanga said.

Enanga said police are mandated to carry out an arrest at any time provided they do it within the law and for the case of Kabuleta he said that police had evidenceto guarantee arrest.

He believes Kabuleta will appear before the courts of law today only if the DPP finds their evidence sufficient and if not he will definitely be released without any charges.

The sports journalist-cum-pastor has been in police detention at the Special Investigations Directorate in Kireka since Friday after his arrest at Drew and Jacs Patisserie, a restaurant, coffee shop and bar located at Forest Mall Lugogo.

According to police, he made an offensive communication post on His Facebook page against the person of the president by referring to him as “a Gambler, Thief and Liar.”
