National Gaming Board officials, Edgar Gerald Agaba, the Chief Executive Officer and John Patrick Kazoora, the Manager in-charge of Finance and Administration have been charged with embezzlement of over Shs1bn by the Anti-Corruption Court in Kampala.

Agaba and Kazoora were arrested earlier this week by State House Anti-Corruption Unit led by Lt Col Edith Nakalema.

Prosecutor Abigail Agaba told court that though more investigations are still on-going, they already have evidence that between October 17th, 2018 and February 14th, 2019, Agaba and Kazoora stole Shs710 million before again using their positions to con Ministry of Finance to pay Shs470 million for Hotel services.

The same officials are alleged to have caused a loss to government after they requested for  Shs480 million shillings to sensitize Boda-Boda riders from Kawempe Division for four days but only did it once and decided to channel Shs360 million to their private accounts.

The suspects however pleaded not guilty to all the charges and asked to be granted bail which was approved by court.

The Anti-corruption Chief Magistrate Pamela Lamunu granted then a cash bail of Shs20 million each while their respective sureties were bonded at Shs200 million non-cash.

The duo will appear in Court again on August 16th, 2019.
