Chameleone is not in DP to end Museveni reign; don’t be fooled — Semujju shoots down singer’s bubble

FDC Spokesman and Kira Municipality MP, Ibrahim Semujju Nganda has cast aspersions on singer Jose Chameleone’s political intentions.

According to Semujju, Joseph Mayanja did not join the Democratic Party to help the opposition’s cause to unseat Uganda’s long-time leader, Yoweri Museveni but rather to champion his own agenda.

“I’m not among those who’ll be fooled to think Jose has joined DP to end the reign of Museveni. My own sense is that DP is recruiting people to help it as a party and not necessarily help end Museveni’s reign,” the MP told NBS Television‘s Morning Breeze programme.

Semujju added that Chameleone has been a gun for hire by the highest bidder who has always been President Museveni and therefore does not make much of his ‘defection’ to DP unless the singer is eyeing another big-money move.

“I don’t understand what Jose Chameleone’s aim is. When in NRM, he said he had gone to make money like any other person, I only hope he has not come to make money in the Democratic Party,” he added.

Chameleone was officially unveiled yesterday by the Democratic Party as their member and potential card holder for Kampala Lord Mayoral Race that is currently held by Erias Lukwago – another DP Stalwart who has not been hitting the sweetest keys with Party President, Norbert Mao.

Semujju says that DP could be grooming their own Bobi Wine in Chameleone to give the party campaigns a much-needed appeal in the 2021 elections.

Chameleone’s brother, Pius Mayanja alias Pallaso also joined DP and rumour is rife that he could be eyeing a Parliamentary seat in Kawempe North.
