Teargas flies in Busabala as Bobi Wine and crowd protest Police cancelling of Kyarenga Extra concert, MP Ssewanyana faints, event organisers Bajjo and Abtex arrested

Tear gas has flown in the lakeside township of Busabala, Wakiso District, on Kampala’s South-Eastern frontier, this morning, as chaos erupted following Police’s cancellation of the Kyarenga Extra concert that was scheduled to be held at Kyadondo East MP Kyagulanyi Ssentamu’s One Love Beach.

The chaos has erupted after Hon. Kyagulanyi (aka Bobi Wine), in a quite sizeable procession, tried to forcefully access his One Love Beach which Police and other security agencies had sealed off.

Bobi Wine insisted that much as his show had been cancelled by Police (on grounds that previous concerts at One Love Beach had breached police public order and safety guidelines), he had a right to access his beach where he was scheduled to address a press conference. In a procession of fans and colleagues, he tried to push through the Police barricade to One Love Beach, which spurred olice to fire teargas.

Matooke Republic has learnt that in the chaos, Makindye West MP Allan Ssewanyana (who was among the procession led by Bobi Wine) has fainted and had to be rushed to hospital for urgent medical attention.

While Bobi Wine and several other people have been arrested and whisked off to Police.

We also understand that in the same breadth leading music events promoters Abbey Musinguzi alias Abtex (of Abtex Productions) Andrew Mukasa alias Bajjo (of Bajjo Events) have been arrested. Abtex and Bajjo have been at centre of organising Bobi Wine’s Kyarenga Extra concert, and we understand they were arrested at the first roadblock that Police set up to cut off the way to one Love Beach.
