2021 presidential aspirant Nobert Mao now has National ID –he couldn’t contest in 2016 because he had no ‘Ndagamuntu’

A day after declaring he is going to stand for President of Uganda in 2021, Democratic Party president, Norbert Mao has also displayed his freshly acquired national ID.

And it requires no space scientist to divulge why Mao has decided to display his national ID. Mao couldn’t contest in the 2016 presidential election (in which he wanted to stand for MP back in Gulu) because he had no National ID, a fact for which the public has since repeatedly mocked him.

Mao has made the image of his national ID the profile picture of his various social media platforms –Facebook, Twitter…

Even government spokesman, Ofwono Opondo, couldn’t miss the development, sarcastically commenting on Facebook: “Congratulations! You can now stand as a candidate, and also be a voter. Don’t allow to be misled again in future.”

It is worth recalling that back in 2016, the Electoral Commission in Gulu rejected the nomination forms of Norbert Mao to contest for Gulu Municipality parliamentary seat, as his name was missing on the voters’ register and he didn’t have a national Identity Card. Mao defended himself saying he did not register for the national ID because he was sick at the time of filling forms.
