Buvuma Islands Woman MP, Janepher Egunyu Nantume has threatened to undress before Parliament as a sign to express her ‘bleeding’ heart if the UPDF marine division and other authorities charged with overseeing fishing activities on Lake Victoria don’t stop mistreating her people of Buvuma Island.
During yesterday’s parliament seating, atough-talking Hon. Egunyu said she has no other means to show concern over the ongoing brutality on the fisher communities that make her constituents of Buvuma Island.
“These soldiers belong to you government people seated here. So you are the ones I should be tasking to do something about them. They are treating our people very badly and making it impossible for them to live. People are economically doing badly, which is very annoying and I don’t know what I should do to express my felt concern. In fact I can even undress so that you can know that we are dying of the pain,” Egunyu said amidst cheers from fellow parliamentarian.
Egunyu’s reactions prompted Speaker Rebecca Kadaga to task Gen Moses Ali, the first deputy Prime Minister to explain the progress and cause of the ongoing tensions. Moses Ali replied saying government is working on resolving the tension.
