Veteran Ugandan DJ Shiru Kiberu, more popularly known as Shiru Kiberu, is presently over the moon after receiving an invitation to perform at an exclusive East African party in Qatar in the Middle East.  The 256 spin-doctor , as shiru is known in some circles, will be shutting it down at Grand Regal Hotel, Doha, on 8th March 2019, alongside one of Kenya’s best turntable commanders DJ Nutty.

Responding to those who have been often putting him down that he is just a ‘local’ DJ who can’t go beyond borders because he doesn’t speak English perfectly, Shiru has also used the invite to make a point about his stature among Ugandan turntable commanders.

“I don’t want to talk a lot, I let things like this do the talking and show people my size in the industry.  Let me go and be paid in dollars by people who sought me out on their own initiative, and leave the other DJs who perform in English to perform in Uganda alone,” Shiru told Matooke Republic in his trademark tongue-in-cheek style.

“To my Qatar fans, I promise it is going to be massive, I can’t seem to find the right words to say however I promise it will be a show to remember,”  Shiru adds.

DJ shiru has over the years  exported his turntable skills to many events outside Uganda, but the DJ (who perhaps has mixed at more high profile events than any other in the country) says he still wants to tour the world.
