After Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine won the Kyadondo East MP seat in 2017, more youths have picked courage to engage in active politics. While this has rejuvenated opposition politics, Democratic Party President Hon Norbert Mao thinks it’s doing them injustice since the ‘newcomers’ masquerade as experts in a field they have little knowledge of.

“We have many people who are new in politics. But the problem in Uganda is ‘wiseacres’ who think they know everything about politics, ” Norbert Mao stated on NBS TV’s Frontline Show.

However, Mao says this will not divert them from their agenda of pushing out NRM from power as he described it as ‘a big party with small ideas’.

“NRM is a big party with small ideas. It is our intention to work together on a common agenda to remove the NRM government from power. We have learnt a number of lessons on how to work together for a common agenda. NRM does not exist as a public party; it relies on state agencies like police, UPDF.  It is good NRM chose a bus as their symbol. A bus has a driver, passengers and luggage. The position of driver in this case is no change”, he stated.
