We are live at Roast and Rhyme, a quarterly picnic style event perfectly staged at the lakeside here in Munyonyo, Jahazi Pier. It’s pitch-perfect day as soothing rays of the sun kisses the cool breeze blowing from the lake. There is sprinkling of romantic atmosphere for the aptly titled ‘Soul on strings edition’.
By 3pm, the day’s first performers, Kika Troupe took the crowd on musical journey to the plains of West Nile. Clear resonant melodies of the xylophone sandwiched by soulful strings of the adungu filled the air. A journey of traditional music served with a touch of modernity warmed up the stage and the crowd alike as percussive sounds set the tone.
In attendance are several celebrities, socialites and of course fun loving people.
It’s 6pm and Shifah Musisi has taken over the music stage with guitarist Charmant. Her clear voice is filling the air with lovey dovey vibes as she belts her tunes.
8pm: The crowd is on its feet. Everybody is dancing along to Aziz Azion as he takes revellers through his rich catalogue.
Saha closed the night with an epic performance!
