Kayihura’s trial hits new snag
The trial of the former Inspector General of Police, Gen. Kale Kahiyura hit a new snag after the probe committee learnt that the evidence presented by both Internal Security Organisation (ISO) and the Chieftaincy of Military Intelligence (CMI) pinning Kayihura to the murder of his deputy, AIGP Andrew Felix Kaweesi in March 2016, seemed fabricated.
According to the committee’s report, the witnesses were coached on what to say, the dates cited did not match with telephone data of the accused and the audio recording featuring Kayihura and former Flying Squad boss, Herbert Muhangi on the day Kaweesi was murdered was forged – according to Makerere University sound engineers.
